Santa is upgrading the family room to 5.1 in a few days. I'm trying to think if there are any movies that have really killer soundtracks that would be appropriate for our 6yo son that we don't own yet. We buy most family movies that have come out in the last few years that don't totally suck so we have all the Pixar stuff, Monster House, Zathura, Star Wars, Harry Potters, etc.
If you can think of anything that's you'd think would be really good, throw out some titles. If you hit on something we don't already have, I'll try to score it to watch next week when we have the whole week off.
Follow Ups:
Couldn't tell you if they are in 5.1, quadraphonic or glorious mono.
Empire Of The Sun....aside from being great films...they ALL have wonderful scores.....
Things are looking great
And they're only getting better

... lovely John Barry score that won Oscars.
It was a memorable for me as a child in 1966; don't know if this is for modern tastes though.

Hey, KVK! Merry Christmas.
Since they were wee lads, my kids have loved Yellow Submarine. The My youngest was about three when he first saw it and I didn't realize that the Blue Meanies were a little intense for a kid his age, but other than that, I have no qualms about the content.
This will sound hokie, but the music on Elmopalooza is sometimes sublime...
The recording is first rate, and the tunes with The Fugees, Shawn Colvin, and Mighty Mighty Bosstones are awesome!
1. Mambo I, I, I ~ Gloria Estefan ------
2. I Want A Monster To Be My Friend ~ En Vogue ------
3. Zig Zag Dance ~ Mighty Mighty Bosstones And The Count ------
4. Nearly Missed ~ Rosie O'Donnell And Elmo ------
5. Just Happy To Be Me ~ Fugees ------
6. I Don't Want To Live On The Moon ~ Shawn Colvin And Ernie ------ ----
7. I Love Trash ~ Steven Tyler ------ ------
8. Caribbean Amphibian ~ Jimmy Buffett, Kermit The Frog And The All-Amphibian Band ------ ------
9. Happy To Meet You ~ Celine Dion, Henry Monster, Elmo And Big Bird ------ ------
10. One Small Voice ~ Kenny Loggins And The Kids ------ ------
11. Songs ~ Elmo And The Kids
Others...
The Shrek flicks, of course.
I still sing along to Schoolhouse Rock...Three is a magic number, Conjunction Junction, I'm Just a Bill, etc...
The Wallace and Gromit flicks are kid safe and adult cool, but they lack any significant musical content.

200 Cigarettes? Prbably r....
Ya know, I really enjoyed 200 Cigs. Think it's a fun film. But, I don't think it's quite appropriate for a 6yo.
Cars has a great soundtrack and the picture looks great on the screen. My 6yo loves it. Looks like you may have it already
