Hi chaps
Has anyone seen Little Children? It's directed by Todd Field and stars Kate Winslett, Patrick Wilson and Jennifer Connolly. I rented it on a whim as I can't recall having seen any reviews of it at the time of its release (2006).
I'm glad I did rent it as it's a real gem. The blurb on the cover doesn't do it justice. It has moments of wonderful dark humour, similar in vein to American Beauty. It has a mesmerising calmness to it, and the voice-over narration works perfectly (even though the narrator sounds like he's just been doing the voice-over for a PBS documentary!)
Cheers. Doug

with a multi-layered story line. I thought the performances were excellent and courageous....especially that of the presumed 'bad guy' infecting the nice middle class white neighborhood.
I liked the points it made concerning human nature and perception.

which is the 70's movie about the bicycle rider and his friends trying to escape the hum drum life of their Indiana upbringing as sons of 'cutters'.
I thought Little Children was OK, a little choppy, maybe too many stories going on at once. A little too sensational for my tastes. It did get consistantly good reviews - if memeory serves me correctly.
It was quirky which is popular these days, at least American movies are back to storytelling and the days of all CGI action flicks (like in the 90s) are behind us (hopefully).

A fine film, and I liked it more than his critically acclaimed "In the Bedroom".
