Great opening paragraph:
Watching "Speed Racer," the new summer lollapalooza from the Wachowski brothers, is like being force-fed a Costco-size bag of your favorite candy. For half an hour, taste buds you didn't know you had are firing in delirium, stoked by the movie's outrageous visual razzle-dazzle. Then you hit that spot in the bag where you know you should stop, but the movie keeps going. You feel more and more bloated; the movie keeps going. At a certain point, you may wonder if the movie's eating you. It doesn't end so much as vomit the audience out.

Follow Ups:
When I was a kid I thought that show was pretty dull and sappy. The Boomer nostalgia boom is too often embarrassing.
As the guy who jumped off the 20-story building shouted as he passed the 10th Floor "So far..so good!"

Well, I went to see it (I have young kids, so most movies we see at the theater are kid types). For what it was, It actually was quite entertaining. One thing I really noticed about this movie was that it was the sharpest movie I have ever seen at the theater. It looked much like my 50" Panasonic plasma playing a SD DVD, which usually exceeds what I see on the big screen. Also, colors were very vivid and well saturated. It made me wonder it the theater had done some sort of an upgrade to their equipment. Of course, it was quite enhanced to play off of its cartoon origins, but still, I usually find that the theater systems cant pull it off as well as home theater systems. I am too old to have experienced the cartoon series, so didnt really know much about the Speed Racer cartoon series, so I went in not knowing what to expect. Its worth a bag of popcorn and a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon.
There are movies you don't need to see to know you won't like em. I knew from the previews that this one would be unwatchable for me. I give Clark a pass on this one. He let a reviewer take the bullet. I thought the review was pretty funny.
