A sight and a feeling and what "a"-
Perfect fil...No perfect theater piece. Ruled by a metronom like director, like in a puppet house every participant make a three time around before vanishing until the next act shows up.
But Grace Kelly is a beauty and stay for ever impregnating your mind, what a class.
The camera make love to her, like later in " To Catch a Thieve "-
The story is the perfect vehicle for the story. Love and the ability to live together...Or not...
Hitch humour and intelligence shines from A-Z.
Bravo.

Follow Ups:
.. exquisite cast and fantastically claustrophobic.
I thought " theatrical " was better a better match, or suits better than claustrophobical....

just very films few are as perfect as Rear Window.
They did not call him 'The Master' for nothing. He could take a seemingly nothing scene and it was mesmerising, a lot to do with dialogue I think but I love the camera angles and the acting was so subtle the entire effect was as if you were watching 'real life'.
My 2 cents

both are quite like stage plays; no change in the set...
Classic stuff !

You can not have it all...

I could see 2 or 3 good new films every week.
The cinemas are full of them here.
Just breathtaking.
I saw the restored print of this in the theater a few years ago-my favorite Hitch, period.
Gorgeous!! But it was my fave Hitch already.
It was uncool to say so in film class, cuz the received wisdom was that Vertigo was the Hitchcock masterpiece.
I always stuck with the fact I *liked* Rear Window Better. Did then - do now.

I have the restaured DVD...
You said it.
It takes the breath away.
BUT where are this kind of films now????????WHERE.
