Directed by Penny Woolcock and I believe originally shown in the UK on Channel 4, this film suffers by comparison with Children Of Men with which it shares a lot... a lot. It even stars Clare-Hope Ashitey who looks and sounds like the product of Middlesex that she is.
It projects the story (from the bible!) of Moses over a near future immigrant hating Britain, with all the undesirables herded into an old amusement park (Dreamland).
It has the slightly unreal feel of an old episode of Doctor Who, not quite convincing whilst trying to be a bigger film than it manages.
Heart in the right place, logistics slightly skewed.
I would suggest waiting for this to appear on TV or a DVD watch for the hard core viewer.
More interesting than captivating.
Follow Ups:
Oh, I thought you meant the old Paul Newman picture, it was pretty good.
... this one is also known (although not on the film) as The Margate Exodus.
Funny, I just watched the Newman picture on DVD the other day. I picked up the old soundtrack LP at a resale shop and after spinning it decided to watch the picture.
Big movie---big score, big scenary, big cast, shot in Super Panavison. Ole Otto Preminger made some good pictures.
