I am not a great Cronenberg fan - I enjoy parts of what he produces, normally. This film is by far my favourite Cronenberg film.
I have read people refering to 'The Dark Knight' as an adult film, to me it is a kidult film, this is an adult film. Violence is graphically presented, and some of the consequences.
This is the best film I have watched this year, and the first Cronenberg film I have watched that I feel really works on every level.

and is not getting erased, no matter how many damn animal documentaries Mrs. Nasty wants to put on it. I was pretty much in awe as I watched it. Better than History of Violence and that one was damned good.

Batman is based on a comic book, for goodness' sake!
That said, I think the Joker brilliantly is written as a modern terrorist and Ledger's characterization truly is horrific and frightening.
Have you seen "A History of Violence"? I liked that also, and Viggo was equally impressive.
Baba-Booey to you all!
For me this was a curate egg, good in parts.
I enjoyed it until Viggo turned into superman.
In EP fight seqs were bloody, violent, and people not only ended up in hospital but were still suffering when they were released.
In EP I actually cared for some of the characters, including VMs, and I was glad they avoided the fairy-tale ending!
All the performances were superb, especially Viggo's. It's the kind of movie you can watch over and over again just like the Godfather Trilogy etc..

He was great. It seemed to end with a sequel in mind.
