Terrible. Where is the humor? Colin Farrell has no comedic acting ability, he has the Robin Williams onstage (and off) stiff mannerisms. Nothing funny about being shot, or being chased by someone shooting you. This movie gave me bad dreams.
Follow Ups:
i don't care to see it again any time soon.
I would however, recommend it.
It's off ... it's odd ... we need to be put off now and again so we see the world wide awake.
That was the story they came up with to feature the town. And yes, the director said Bruges is as absolutely boring as portrayed in the movie.
Highpoint of humor: Colin gets in fight with obnoxious loud mouth over Viet Nam only to find after wards that he was CANADIAN!
but it is HARD to make comedy and violence, almost impossible. Colin has no aptitude for comedy, should have used the guy from Shaun of the Dead.
Hot Fuzz was violence and comedy and umm so was Shaun of the Dead.
In Bruges is Dark Comedy and you either get it as dark comedy or you don't. I mean it goes out of its way to go too far. People then complained that the ending was mean spirited because the main characters die but for heaven sake they;re KILLERS and the audience is upset that they get killed? Now that IS funny. The director makes the audience feel bad for murderers getting murdered, for hooker seeking midgets, for the two bit crook who gets his eye blasted out. This is one of the funniest dark comedies in decades...and Ralph Fiennes was a hoot.
making him a horrific, torturing, cold-blooded murderer.
It needed to ease up on the comedy or on the gore.
Together, it was sick.
.
...Ralph Fiennes, the head killer - a family guy - kills himself after he accidentally kills the midget, who he thinks is a child.
So I'd say child killing is a theme throughout...
Besides that, I didn't find all Farrel's ranting that humorous.
