  Not one really great film. Middle of the way to the best.

    At least six great movies in that list. All great performances by Newman. Very few actors were ever in his league. Truly one of the all time greats.

    The Hustler is pretty darned close to a great film.
    
    Yeah, he was a movie star. Maybe he wasn't the most versatile actor who ever drew breath. But he was very talented - very poswerful and charismatic, and leagues finer than a Brad Pitt.

      Yes I agree. But does that make him a top actor?

      And yes he is all you said he is. I never said the contrary!
      I like at best in...small role...
