Not the film, just the title.
I was just feeling really tired and had caught the end of Earthquake and I suddenly thought of my answer and then it came up0 as a trailer...

“The fundamentals of our economy are strong.” - John McCain, September 15, 2008
I always enjoyed those driver training films they showed us in high school.
Acting was a little stiff and the characters never had enough time to get into character before they ran into misfortune on the Interstate.

A very good Peckinpah film from the early 70s.
Just saw it and it does hold up very, very well.
Oates is a believable tough guy.
butchered by the studios
"Head"'s so relentlessly dark + violent, I just don't know how he ever got away with getting that released back in the early 1970's!
This was a Quentin Tarantino film decades ahead of it's time; it went right over the head of reviewers + audiences back then ( tho' Ebert in the New Yorker called it a "strange dark Classic" )
While "The Wild Bunch" is considered Peckinpahs magnum opus, ( and Oates is in this also ) I think "Bring Me the Head" is the Peckinpah film that holds up the best of all

Direct from the "wayback machine": one of the ancient "hygiene" films we recruits had to watch while in bootcamp. It was more than 35 years ago and that title still resonates. It was as inept as the title suggests.
... and Loading the Material on the Cars"I just call it "DtAotBHaCMiUaSoIRaLtMotC" for short.
With a rating of 8.7, it is also one of the highest rated movie on the Internet Movie Database.

That being said, I actually enjoyed it: it's a camp classic!
Oh really?
How about, "The Terror of Tiny Town?" Or, "Billy The Kid versus Dracula?" "How To Stuff A Wild Bikini?" It's funny, but there must be a hundred goofy titles to add to this thread. I was just picking "off the top of my head." My criteria are (in this context) campy movies. Any real, in dept search would dredge up many good ones, from A-list pictures on down. Fun.
First thing that came to mind. Title says it all.
Never seen it, never will.
of Hollywood's "serious" efforts.
Really.
...but snakes and I are not friends, not in person, not on the screen. Don't ever want to hurt them, they have an importan place in the eco-system, just don't want to be buds with snakes, not even for a movie.
Are you..... Indiana Jones?

Not rude! But fond memories to me!
We used to say that as kids, now that i slowly go back to that stage, I was happily and well deserved to use that expression.

dave c,
I thought you might appreciate having at least one movie with an Australian association.
But, beyond those, for "best title", I'd nominate titles that in themselves seem interesting enough- knowing nothing else, I'd want to see the movie only because of the sound of the title.
In no particular order:
"That Obscure Object of Desire"
"The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie"
"Memento"
"Beach Blanket Bingo"
"Persona"
"Kind Hearts and Coronets"
"Bedazzled"
"The Grapes of Wrath"
"East of Eden"
"The Last Temptation of Christ"
"The Wizard of Oz"
"The Agony and the Ecstasy"
"Throne of Blood"
"The Day the Earth Stood Still"
Cheers,
Bambi B
The best laugh I've had in a couple days. Am nursing an injured foot and your message made me forget the pain for a moment-or-two. Thanks!
These are at least Honorable Mentions:
"The Last Orgy of the Third Reich" (and in a similar vein): "Orgy of the Dead"
"Ilse, Harem Keeper of the Oil Sheikhs"
"Child Bride of the Ozarks"
"Queen Kong"
Regrettably, I'll probably think of more....
CC.
Oh, I forgot:
"Wrestling Women vs. the Aztec Mummy"
CC.
...well, you did ask.
or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
thanks

I especially love Sterling Hayden's crazy general and Slim Pickens riding the bomb to oblivion. Proof positive that Kubrick was a genius.
