Nothing beats the original TV series for sure. The dentist and putt putt episodes come to mind as sheer genius. The first Mr. Bean movie, "Bean", typical Hollywood tripe, really sucked. I just saw the 2007 film "Mr. Beans Holiday" and it was much better. Beans character is much "truer" to the series. The British director and non-Hollywood production is a lot better than the American production of ten years ago. Yes it was ten years since "Bean", well eleven actually. So if you like Mr. Bean give it a go.

  Well, actually yes, someone CAN not love him, me being that someone.
  His snivelling, weaselly character and the broad comedy that goes with it it, to me, the bottom of the barrel.
  Give me "Fawlty Towers" "Are You Being Served" "Keeping Up Appearances" or Benny Hill any day.
  
  I tried to see why he was so popular, but I was always turned off by his antics. Ah well....

  Yes I said his films were crap compared to the original shorts that averaged 10 minutes or so that played on BBC. If you don't like those original efforts then of course you would surely hate the films. The 2007 effort is tolerable especially when compared to the 1997 Hollywood piece of crap entitles "Bean".

Mr. Atkinson is a comic genius. I've been trying to find his monolouges for a long time without success. I love the story of him playing a mean-spirited school headmaster and he was meeting with the parents of a student.
