Sad as it was a good source. It seems they want to concentrate on high speed internet delivery. I guess the day will soon come when they will no longer offer disk at all.
I wonder what will happen to all the overstock for a while?
Follow Ups:
"Open envelope-insert disk-return to envelope-leave for mailman" is sufficiently slick for me. Netflix became a great success by removing the major hassle of the video rental...pick-up/drop-off. Netflix would commit suicide going to web delivery. Cable companies would simply blow them away with on-demand content. Web-based music and movies is PITA for people who don't spend their time online or watch movies on a 15" screen.
BTW, I was at Barnes and Noble yesterday shopping for CDs, and found that actually flipping through CDs and listening to samples was a whole lot more relaxing than screwing around online with iTunes etc.
We're chasing terrorists in the wrong place...they're on Wall St.
.
use it essentially as a saved favorites. It will take me years to empty it myself.
never mind add to a home collection. The last three DVDs I bought were of Films produced between 30 and 50 years ago...
I waded thru a dozen pages of their offerings without seeing anything of the slightest interest.. guess I wont be missing it.. and there's always Amazon.
...in a few years.
You'll be able to access virtually any title through your cable, satellite or computer on demand.
At least they had some foresight when they named the company...
I haven't seen any evidence of CD's being hard to find over the internet. Of course stores are closing and stock is shrinking in retail stores but Netflix is an internet retailer only.
