Every saturday when I was a kid, there was a show around 2 pm called Creature Feature, with fun movies starring non other than Godzilla, Mothra, Gamera, and the rest of those giant city-stomping monsters(Gamera being my personal favorite). I think it was on this 'Creature Feature' that I had seen a movie for the life of me I can't find today. It was set in a jungle or wooded area with a huge and mysterious stone statue that would come to life. As far as I can recall, this 'statue/monster' was a lifeless monument most of the movie, only to come to life near the end to head out on a vengeful rampage. His face would turn to normal flesh(except that it was green) but the rest of his body remained stone, which aided him as he left his forest home and stomped the #$@$! out of a local village. These are fuzzy memories that i'm working from, seeing that the last time I watched the movie was 30-35 years ago. Does this classic flick ring a bell with anyone?

I'll have to pick up the dvd, it'll bring back some memories. I didn't realize it came out in '66 which is 2 years before i was born. I must have seen it sometime in the early/mid '70s otherwise i wouldn't have remembered it at all.
Its was remastered something like 5 or so years ago-you can get the whole trilogy.

"Mothra" was a favorite; the flying effects were, if possible, even worse than the regular ground and pyrotechnics work.
The stone statue come to life sounds a lot like the old Jewish legend of the Golem, which was in fact filmed by Paul Wegener in the 20es, but you are referring to a much more recent film in color. I wonder if what you saw may have been some re-working done during the period when American B-movie companies went to the Philliphines to shoot cheap films, mostly horror.
I can't add more than that; I am intrigued though at what it might be. Despite having wasted a lot of time on good/bad flicks, I can't recall seeing it.
