Terence Malick and Tarantino both have major films coming out (Malick doesn't do minor, actually......) starring--- not just featuring--- Mr. Jolie.
Follow Ups:
That's all.
I think Pitt would want to work with them more than they would want to work with him.
He brings in $tar factor, they add a certain legitimacy to his resume.
Business as usual.
"...You're all welcome to stay for the next set...we're going to play all the same tunes, but in different keys..." -Count Basie
Suri's daddy was just in a major film as well - which turned out to be a stealing pile.......

Best Regards,

Malick used to be good but lost his touch...As for the other one...

I think Terrance Malick is one of the greats working today. I don't think he's lost his touch either.
But, remember: it's a business. Malick wants people to see his movies. He wants bodies in the seats, not just critics.
Malick wanted John Travolta who was red hot at the time for "Days of Heaven" but he was not available.
I think he's alot like Hitchcock in that actors are cattle. You call upon them to perform a certain function. If they can do it, fine.
seem wooden. The dialogue a train-wreck, too. That girl with the speech impediment narrating in, "Days of Heaven" would have sunk it all by herself (but she did have lots of help).

problems.
Both Tarantino and Malick have produced films which have done very well (for "art" films) without big stars. You think Tarantino would risk wrecking the film of his career (his description) by having a mediocre lead? Or that Malick, in one of his very infrequent films would?
Fact is Pitt has earned his emerging reputation as a serious actor in several roles, one of which is in current release.
If either of you can show any previous cynical casting by either director, go ahead.

What was wrong with "The New World"? I thought it was quite good. His weakest (but still acceptable) was "The Thin Red Line".
