Jews escaping into the forests of ByeloRussia building communities "in the wild" while resisting Germans and rescuing other Jews. It's even better because it's based on a true story. I'm sure there was quite a bit of overdramatization but at least it provided enough action to give me my "fix" of gratuituous violence.
It could have used a bit more story development on the front end with the persecution of Jews IMHO but I guess that subject has been covered by other Holocaust movies.
Now it's got me curious about the Bielski partisans and how closely this movie reflects real life events.

-------------Call it, friendo.
You need the Veoh player (free) to watch the program but it's worth getting it for this quality of production.
BTW, there are several other Ray Mears survival episodes available at the link that are very enjoyable. Whether he is as much of an outdoors man as he makes himself out to be is up in the air AFAIAC but he is very watchable and respectful of the environment, people and memory of these places.
