I felt that way at first. The media has now saturated me with that image. I'm getting used to it. It's a hair weave wig but he did put on 34 pounds of muscle for the role (Rourkes words) Pretty impressive. I 'll pass though. I like Rourke, love Tomei and the reviews are very good. I loathe wrestling and won't watch a movie about it regardless of "sides" it takes.

... any more than Apocalypse Now is about jungles.
There are a few scenes in the ring, but they are NOT the focus of the film.
The film is about (and I am trying to quote Springsteen's acceptance for the song)a guy who has turned his back on love and hasn't learned what it is that nurtures him.

Getting Springsteen to do the song is a perfect match.
If you like Nabraska and that close up and personal Springsteen style you WILL like the film.
It doesn't really show wrestling in a great light but even the WWE has taken the plot and incorporated it (the washed up ex-champ wrestler) into one of its kayfabe storylines (Shawn Michaels is starting to look something like Rourke's character)

If I actually liked Rourke or Springsteen as opposed to just respecting their talent....... I might go see it. I'll be waiting for the SAT to play it.
