IS it always as awful as this?
It seems to have been thrown together by two teenagers with a spare afternoon.
I have only ever seen it in LA before and that is kind of fitting, but it seems just too hammy for words.
At least Jackass has stopped singing out of tune.
Follow Ups:
I especially liked the Oscar winning actors introducing the nominees.
I was thrilled NOT to have a comedian host. I love Hugh Jackman. Ann Hathaway was adorable.
It had appropriate glitz but not over the top for the current economy.
It moved along better than normal.
No truly horrible dresses.
Slumdog Millionaire is a better than average BP winner. The filmmakers and cast were truly thrilled and overwhelmed.
So there.
that her vocal soundtrack was audible as such?I find it intolerable to watch people thank everyone. Just get up there and say "Thanks" if you don't have anything interesting to say.

That's the routine at awards shows.
So just read the results in the papers.
...and choosing Jackman rather then someone funny was not the best choice - noticed he wasn't there much.
But otherwise, the show and production were about average as Oscar telecasts go.
The acceptance speeches were't s bad a previous years with a couple of exceptions. Awardees, speaking for a group, thanking their children. And their wives. Or a long list.
The highlight of the show was Phillip Petit, the Man on a Wire, accepting for Best Documentary, showing a little sleight of hand and balancing the statue on his chin.
Overall, pretty predictible winners and a decent, if not memorable, show.
Bring back comedy next year.
I was surprised how MUCH more I liked the awards ceremony without an intrusive comedian. There was enough humour for me.
The emphasis was on the perfromers and the awards.
Fine with me.
Over sooner too.
Alluded to by Sean Penn and not mentioned otherwise.
I noticed the song and dance fiascos disappeared after a while which was good and then the proper numbers were put in... the one that had Beyonce and the "Indian" dancers... did all the drummers appear to be Japanese?
All it needed was Tonto...
Still a good time was had.

It's Slumdog Sunday isn't it?
