The story is a bit ordinary but the characters themselves are not. Father Flynn (Philip Seymore Hoffman) is accused by Sister Aloysius (Meryl Streep ) of wrongdoing with a 12 year old student and tries to run him out of school, based on what her instincts tell her.
A nice neat story that is made more watchable by the performances
thanks

I thought Streep overdid it some, but it was very good to see a serious film where nuns weren't treated as cliches or the targets of ridicule. I have nothing but deepest respect and gratitude for those selfless women. My 8th Grade teacher was very much a Sister Aloysius.
We're chasing terrorists in the wrong place...they're on Wall St.
I think this is an important movie, which is far more realistic portrayal than what we typically see in movies with black and white characters and witness stand confessions. I think Hoffman is incredible here in his subtlety, and Streep keeps the whole thing moving. Best movie I have seen in quite awhile.
