Oh did this suck. I'm such a Terminator fan-boy...love the 1st two, even accepted the 3rd...and I love The Sarah Connor Chronicles on TV. This was just terrible. It felt like a Matrix 2/Transformers/War of Worlds mash-up, and just to clarify that's not a good thing.
I'm not trying to hold it up to some impossible standard (ala old school Star Trek guys...which I am a little) but there really isn't anything good to say about T4. Sad how such a great sci-fi franchise has been reduced to an incoherent ADD mess.
Baba-Booey to you all!
Follow Ups:
The impressive ensemble cast in "Batman Begins" clearly carried him. Christian Bale seemed to be cast as someone who looked convincing as a martial artist. Otherwise, he's as flat as George Clooney or Dwayne Johnson, IMHO.
... just my 2¢♪ moderate Mart ♫ ☺ Planar Asylum
where speakers are thin & music isn't
and did not care about anyone in it or the story. Some neat effects is all I was looking for and got about 20 minutes worth for my $5 (Michigan prices)
#8^)
thanks

After reading this thread, I was expecting a bad movie, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself for the matinee price I paid.
Yeah, it's no sci-fi masterpiece, but to me it was at least three times more entertaining than T3, which was neither profound nor fun.
that were good enough to carry the movie, thankfully, because most of the script was incidental
To put it in perspective I thought it had half the carisma and a quarter of the star power of Star Trek though the graphics and action were better in general
thanks

a few 'Terminator Stouts'. One of McMenamin's, and Portland's, finest.

Probably best served in a brandy snifter...it's potent!
Baba-Booey to you all!
I was hoping this one would be half decent.
As I'm sure you know, The Sarah Connors Chronicles has been canceled.
i was quite fond of that show.
Pity.
Jack
I had not heard the TV series had been cancelled. It was my favorite show on TV (OK about even with LOST). I think the Sarah Connor Chronicles was very well written and serious, a genuine effort at a quality product - no wonder it was cancelled!
First Serenity now Terminator, where will I find Summer Glau next? boo hoo
I would rather it continued and this movie did not come out at all - an even trade I bet!
It is sad to hear the movie is not very good, I may watch it anyway unless it gets mashed by everyone else...
thanks

I was curious about Shirley Manson's character "Catherine Weaver" (T-1001). Why attempt to make the machines humane? Innumerous motives flourish.

I need a robot...

Chronicles was my favorite too.

episodes. I personally think "Serenity" was Summer's best work...
Besides, Whedon will be busy with season two of "Dollhouse." I expect
"Dollhouse" to get fascinating, like "Buffy" did for seven glorious
seasons. Perhaps even Nathan Fillion will show up, you know, the Captain
on "Firefly" and the demented preacher in season seven of "Buffy." Funny
though, Terminator Chronicles getting, uh, terminated and "Dollhouse"
getting another season. Weird progamming decisions. Regards,
J.R.
Sorry, but I really don't like Dollhouse. I only periodically watched because it was after Sarah Connors Chronicles. I would be greatly surprised if it turned out to be another Buffy. lets see if it makes it to season 3.
Jack
I hope "Dollhouse" gets better; sure wouldn't mind another "Buffy."
Thanks for the hilarious link. Regards,
J.R., listening to Musafir.
and Summer was great, it was a terrific storyline for her - I just wish I had seen the series before the movie but watching the movie made me want to see the series so I saw Summer's secret out of order...
She was featured in The Big Bang Theory show which is actually not bad for TV comedy
thanks

.
during that one scene, CB could never really get back into character. A shame, really.

I was looking forward to this one --- I am also a big fan of 1&2 and the tv series. Most of the reviews I've read mirror your feelings.
Oh well. I guess I will just catch it on DVD instead of wasting $$$ in the theatre.

the altar of Fx.
It is said that H-wood now puts 95% of its attention to the "teen/young adult" market. The game-boy crowd are used to non-stop action, non-real looking Fx.
"Let the Right One In;" "Gamorra;" "Waltzing with Bashir," the three best films I saw last year all were foreign efforts. I probably saw a good American film but sadly don't remember it.
not in art. Now it's on the same level with professional wrestling and pin ball amusement. Few intelligent films are made. If fact I think it died about 1972, about the time when the director as superstar era ended. Now directors are hired help. The mega movie companies only are after volume sales and the thing that will fill the theaters without much risk is that which appeals to the below 20 crowd. Ray

Proving it's possible to make a blow-em-up flick that's well written with decent acting.
