Liam, completely unbelievable as the ex-CIA "preventer" Dad, decimates the Paris underworld looking for his spoiled daughter. The worst, most concocted kidnap/rescue story I've ever seen. But entertaining anyway. We're chasing terrorists in the wrong place...they're on Wall St.
Follow Ups:
...I found it to be one of the more enjoyable popcorn/action flicks this year.
Better than the latest Bond and "The International".

is Maggie Grace - just another level of this movie being a fantasy
thanks
Phil
If the director was worried about genetic continuity, he should've bleached the hair of the skank cast as Mom.

NO GRITS NO GLORY

I'd have to agree. The tried and tested template always seems to work and it's no different here - enjoyed the film and would recommend it, but it's predictable as ever. The sort where you know what the destination is so jusy enjoy the ride.

is definitely not known for realistic films to say the least, and as the producer and screenwriter/story by(?) this film has his fingerprints all over it. Ironically, I think it's *his* most realistic film to date except maybe for The Big Blue.
Liam Neeson is the balls. Makes me want to watch Rob Roy again...
..are mnay of the martial Arts Techniques.
I can tell you from experience that he follows , to the book, most of what needs to be done.
1. First Block, parry, or deflect any attack
2. Next stun, surprise , overpower the attacker
3. injure, Maime or kill as appropriate.
He uses a terrific technique in the cab, by punnching under the arm, near the armpit.
That is an extremely good techniquwe, as there is very little muscle and tissue surrounding the upper ribs.Even better when the arm is up.
One of the guys here at work,,,from the hood, I had shown that move a few months ago, when he asked nme what one of my favorite techniques was.
He came in one morning after he had seen the movie, and said he had seen it in the movie. He said" I knew all along you were a ninja or something, this proves it!
Most films nowadays tend to have fight choreography which is right on the nail and more what would be used in a real situation, rather than the 'flowery' techniques which look very impressive but in reality don't work and are ineffective.
The Bourne films were a turning point for me, although even there we see fighters jumping up from techniques which would have rendered them immobilised - Bourne being the worst culprit.
Fight s have got to be a combination of realism and entertainment, but in reality most fights are ended after only a couple of good techniques when no gloves are worn (Rambo's escape in the police station scene for instance); wouldn't make for the most exciting fights though. :0)

..in the Police Station.
Your other points are also spot on.
I found it particularly odd that he would take a commercial jet home when he had a private one at his disposal. And I guess that he thought his one time Parisian colleague would not seek retribution for Liam having shot his wife. But, after all, it was only a flesh wound. I mean I guess I wouldn't either were I him. I suppose that's plausible. Actually think Liam Neeson turned out to be a surprisingly good choice for the part and was a large part of the movie's success.
