OK I admit, the plot was preposterous (wooly Mammoths and Sabre-toothed Tigers did NOT coexist with dinosaurs. But, the movie is a hoot, in the same sense that the old Wile-Coyote/Road-Runner cartoons were a hoot. The 3D is wonderful (tho sit closer to the screen than you usually do for maximum 3-D effect).
Don't expect a Disney-like morality story. The movie doesn't solve global warming, worry about endangered species or anything like that. The IS no lesson, here. It's just non-stop action with an emphasis on non-stop harrowing events made more fun with 3-D
Part of the beauty of this movie is that it does NOT preach. The reviews I have read seem uncomfortable with this. But does EVERY cartoon have to make some sort of social statement?
Sit back and enjoy the fun, and pay no attention to the often critical reviews. The animation is stunning in 3-D
WAY better than "Up" in my view.
Follow Ups:
Boring movie filled with awful jokes and pretty much same old crap from the first movie. Only thing worth while was Buck but even that went way too far.
.
Roadrunner Cartoons = Chicken Salad
Ice Age(all versions)= Chicken Shit

Question "Authority", the mainstream media sucks - Go Independent and hold BOTH parties accountable instead of just the other guys!
I need music to help forget the reality of today
took up 20 minutes of the movie (it seemed) and was the highlight for me
enjoyable mindless fun

unlike the rest of the 'marginal' movie

That's about the sorry state of movies these days. Mindless, yes, enjoyable, well that's very debatable. The last theater I visited had pin ball and video games in the foyer. Maybe the next move will be mud wrestling. Screens and theaters are getting smaller and smaller and the ticket prices are climbing higher and higher. Last movie I attended there were only three other people in the audience. How do they make money? I really believe blue ray dvd will be the death of movie theaters.
"I think the journey should be just as enjoyable as the destination." GRH
Radio and television didn't kill the movies and they were and are more pervasive than BluRay. Transformers just did $293,000,000 in twelve days.
I wouldn't bet on your prediction.

where we could relax and laugh.
My mother had brain surgery last week (she is fine) and we all agreed we did not want to see anything heavy so it served it's purpose.
thanks

Do NOT ask her over to see, "Tetsuo!"
I agree it was too much though pretty amazing in it's own right.
thanks
