Sharon is also near by but I am not unfamiliar with the entire area so sure Southie though its actually a fairly small section uniformly covered in triple decker residences for the most part and a grid pattern of streets.. no offense to its denizens but having been raised in Westwood next to Dedham, Southie was nowhere I'd be likely to be found,lol..
I actually grew up on the street mentioned in the Wikipedia article
I spent several years attending BC High in Dorchester; lived in Newton Highlands.
This is an excellent crime drama WAY ahead of its time. Directed by Peter Yates with Robt Mitchum and Peter Boyle and a right-on ensemble cast.
its quite something to hear his recollections and obvious affection for the film. I hadn't seen it in years since it was shown on TV and was much younger then. I regard it as rewarding viewing and his aim for realism and simplicity is a dead on hit.
A fine movie in its own right, though EC is in a league by itself.
ArdRi- Just want to give you a shout out and anyone who has seen this and thinks as highly of it as we do. It's one of those diamonds in the rough and a precursor of excellent films of its type to follow.
