i saw Julie and Julia yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it - as an avid cook and rabid julia child fan, i got a kick out of meryl and tucci in the child roles - warning - spoiler - no cgi, no horrible music, no megan fox, no subtitles (even the french parts) - just a clever script and fabulous performances

if you like to cook - go see this movie - oh, i'm sorry, i mean film

    merits of a Big Mac and a Whopper?
    It could just be that in discussing the films seen by "few" one could learn something, get interested, and discover an entire new world of appreciation.
    Years ago, when I began participating here, I didn't appreciate Russian, Chinese, Thai, Korean, etc. Eventually, curiosity led me to try a film or two.
    Be careful.

      i watch all kinds of movies and listen to all types of good music and watch good television - don't care about the origin, language or message - just the quality of the entertainment - your comment about food presupposes that a popular film has to be bad - not always the case - get out in the public sometimes - not all of us are big mac eating, titanic seeing, american idol watching boobs

        I responded.
        You then leap to the erroneous conclusion I was disparaging the quality of fast food. My point is that there is little to be gained from discussing the plebeian.
        I have no particular problem with a film being popular as long as it is good. You're the one seemingly challenged by non-popular, foreign films.
