Now, to say Russian filmmakers are the best is a little strange.
Better than the Italians, French, Germans, English, and Americans?
I could agree with "as good as any countries."

Not absolutely.
Mr. Bergman did actually agree with me ( Lanterna Magica )-
So I am not alone...As for Victor it does not count, as of Russian origin his view on that matter can only be stucked in a bias.

Too feminine to play a macho character, too soft, so Pierre naturally was one of his best roles.

Externally, he was somewhat similar to a great Soviet actor Donatas Banionis, so if you happen to come across any of his films, take a look. Donatas, in turn, would remind you of great Zbigniew Cybulski, whom you undoubtedly remember from Wajda's Ashes and Diamonds... don't take that progression toooooo seriously, but I think it is true.
