I loved the original, and have wondered why there's never been an attempt at a new version. Thinking that hellish battle footage could almost put the audience in York's boots, and a the prospect of a realistic portrayal of the personal York backstory in a modern, non-Hollywood fashion makes me drool. Hope it happens, someday.

Who would want a remake?
Maybe with Audie Murphy?
It was a Howard Hawks picture, not a Ford.
