I watched these two movies and enjoyed them a lot back when they were out.. but never came.
Both left the impression that a sequel would follow, especially Young Sherlock Holmes and also The Goonies... Welll maybe it was for the best considering the quality of remakes and sequels these days...

It was one of the top grossing films of 1985, having made almost $62 million just in the US and many millions overseas. It's also made some $23 million in rentals and DVD sales.
It was an expensive film, costing almost $19 million. A return of more than 3X isn't bad........ No "blockbuster" but very popular, nonetheless.

no doubt. But it made a lot of money. As an adult I had a very difficult time sitting through it but my kids were 8 and 10 at the time and loved it, as did all their friends. I guess Spielberg knew his audience.
