I made it after so many years to watch it completely on BD.
So a good copy.
That film was one that at firsthand really liked.
Did the film change?
Maybe did I..
English actors are almost always a guaranty for quality here we have Hopkins, Hurt, Gielgud, and as one of the finest. ..American Bancroft!
This film is a politic statement. The true story is that the " Elephant man " exploited himself, in a word he sold his body for freak show.
Linch made him a victim, bad society, very bad.
Then he show us the good side of man.
His film is filled with sadism and brutality, with boring moment and overall an unwell cut film.
Bye bye Elephant Man, that is the last time I see you.

Wild At Heart is great fun.

unshaken. It's a lot of fun.
What do you say about it? If you can get your nose sufficiently out of the way for a reply. ;-)

Yes.
But not from me.
I saw it a long time ago.
Too long.
I said " Quoted "-
I mentioned Wild At Heart simply to add to the discussion. I don't think it's a great film. I think it has legs and is a colorful, atmospheric romp. As enjoyable to me as Blue Velvet or Lost Highway. It's Lynchian without all the extra weight of recent years. Fun.
Sometimes, I love a melody.

...Blue Velvet or Mulholland Drive.
The Straight Story is very very good, and it's certainly the easiest and most accessible Lynch film for general audiences to get into. It's beautifully acted, outstandingly shot and sensitively directed. But it doesn't take the chances the other two films do. BV and MD go places no other director could go. That's one reason why I treasure them.
The Elephant Man is a rung below those two, but stil remarkable.
Lyrical. Good performance by Richard Farnsworth.

"Blue Velvet" is dark but brilliantly lit and so are "Twin Peaks" and "Mulholland Drive."
I think it's a trick to convey the atmosphere of a bizarre dream in film. Lynch does that pretty well here. Whether that makes it a good film overall I guess is a matter of opinion. There is an awful lot of psychological 'undercurrent'. I can admire it.

Blue Velvet is one of the great late 20th century American movies.
It's so good even Peter Greenaway wishes he'd made it.
Greenaway is great, Excellent.
Linch I just don´t like.
I find his work unhealthy.
Is BV a film you can see over and over again?
I can´t.
...see Blue Velvet over again. nd again. I watch it at least twice a year. And this is from someone who can't tolerate slasher flicks, modern horror films, TV violence etc.
It is strong stuff, not realistic of course, but a highly personal and expressive vision. I do think Lynch is one of our greatest filmmakers. The dream imagery and dark side of America are explored better in BV than in almost any other American film I can think of. I find it magical - dark, but magical.
