Wowza! Wowza! Wowza! Saw the colorized version of It's a Wonderful Life. It was wonderful! The colors looked good. Best of all, details really stood out, you noticed so much more in each scene. The flesh tones were human looking, but the range of skin tones seems to have been minimized. Everyone pretty much had the same skin tone. Other than that, it was near perfect. The Dames really stood out with their bright hair and dresses. Well, well worth the price. Breathed enormous life into the classic.

Follow Ups:
I don't like it. I've yet to see a colorized film that looked convincing to me. I subscribe to the idea that the directors/cinematographers/art directors/set designers/lighting techs, et al, knew what they were doing. I would MUCH RATHER watch a restored B&W version and enjoy the fruits of the film makers' considerable talents.

Black & white movies done after color came out were black & white for one reason, to save money. Yest the very talented men did a great job with black & white, but they really wanted to use color.

The technology is becoming quite tolerable now.

...but I HATED the earlier colorized version I saw. (Shudder)
If you enjoyed it, well...OK.
But I hate colorizing vintage films.
B&W is beautiful. And that's the way I personally prefer to see a movie that was shot B&W.
I wonder if it is not sourced from the same colorized master. Would they go to the expensive process of colorizing it again for the BluRay release?
Sounds like a money losing proposition. I saw the original colorized version. It was terrible.

that's tolerable -
Scrooge (1951) with Alastair Sim.
I would like to see this film on BluRay but in black and white. I've never seen a colorized film that was better than awful.

I just ordered it in BD, there are two versions.
Of course the B&W.
Why not colorizing the Statue of Liberty?
No need for any colouraisation - we all watch black and white movies through rose-tinted glasses anyway. :0)
Today is a gift - that's why it's called the Present.
Best Regards,
Chris Redmond.
