is entertaining!
I 1st took Mr. Raimi seriously when he directed "A Simple Plan": ( Bill Paxton, Billy-Bob Thornton, Jane Fonda ) a clever thriller that was well acted; never thought much of his "Evil Dead" stuff, even tho' it's raved about...
"Drag me to Hell" is as slick + superficial as Raimis recent "Spyderman" franchise; ( Simple Plan it ain't ) it's also well paced + has some genuinely scary scenes + moments, but like his "Spyderman" films, Raimi has a playful tongue-in-cheek way of directing as if he's letting his audience in on the jokes ( sometimes he is, sometimes he isn't ) + it's this underlying humour that makes the film as much of a winner as the sparse script and a decent cast. Special effects are there, but that's not too overdone, which is a Good Thing. Some of the imagery tho' is w-a-y over the top, which is also a Good Thing ( ! ) SFX or no
Very rare I have ever had cause to praise anything in the "horror" genre, but this film is worth seeing once, it's a hoot

I enjoyed the film and felt it was worth the ticket price. (sad how THAT bar has been lowered!)
