With such a good cast and a classic story it's a can't-miss...right? No. None of the otherwise excellent actors were enjoyable, the dialogue was absurd, and the "jump in your seat" moments were laughable. The violence served no purpose to the story and the actions of the Wolfman seemed totally random and without explanation. The set looked great though...a damp, foggy 19th century England that gave me a chill just looking at it. Save your money.

A beautiful historical waste of time and money. They did a good job of capturing the mood (boring, sad, grim). The movie brought nothing new or fresh to the genre (Like it or not, Twilight freshened up the vampire story) The story had no hope, nothing new, just random deaths and destruction. A mild surprise, but not that we cared. It shocks me that Hollywood will throw millions upon millions on such a vapid story.

Fired the original director, editor, and then reshot (really late in the game) for new special effects. This turkey is probably the main reason why they really replaced the studio chief. Spending good money after bad is the studio system way. With so many clever film makers, how could they screw up a "paint by the numbers" title like this one? Too bad. They should have done a Sherlock Holmes on it, and reinvented the genre. How about a Wolfman who likes being a monster, and not a brooding hambone, who suffers-along with the audience-all the way through? They forgot that this was supposed to be a fun movie. Just my opinion, of course.

and the script punched up the fact that Del Toro was raised in America and his mother was Spanish to explain his looks and accent. Why didn't they just cast another Brit and save themselves the trouble?

Someone wrote that the wolfmen looked like wookies. Aye, Chewbacca with a nasty attitude it was.

What a waste of a nice budget.
