The Village of the Damned is a film to be remembered of.
Can you?
Well it is the intellectual sophisticated form of it. Much more worked out.
It never let you rest, always put you at un-ease.
A bit of revenge from children whose education ended in all wars, in this case in the first one.
And we know what happen later.
Education, the Wall -Between parents and their off springs.
The perfidy of a sadistic well meant, seemingly well meant, logic of adults at how how to raise children.
Incredibly well played, perfectly film, in every details fabulous!

Haneke IS the school teacher, and some time I see a rope between this one and l Enfant Sauvage.
A familiarity, kind of even if only vague.
Well no doubt a masterpiece.
One of the greatest since a long long time.
Would I see it twice? Never. Who like to involve in such a way ?

But this is one I will want to see again, as there is SO much going on...just not...soon.

I liked Cache much more than Funny Games.
Who would like to see that one again. Not me.
This film now is certainly the best I saw in 2008 and 2009.
It is certainly in the Bergman class.
While I ask myself why can I see Wild Strawberries again and again, and it is not also without cruelty, but deny that right to this one.
Maybe because there is no hope, paint blankly like a Zola realsitic book back in the 19īs, like being in an hospital room all white, surrounded by strange voices.
There is no love no hope no solution.
This film is just against the law...
A masterpiece, but a cruel one.
And very Austrian, pedantic more German than the German mentality.
But as I sit here, the director's name is receding into the background...
And this is how I like it! :)

It has ben received like everywhere.
The film underline the these that the education( in this case the one descending from Luther ) is responsible of the wars as it happened in Germany.
PS: German and Austrian donīt like each others.
Heck, this way I will gladly suffer even for two reels! :)
