He was perfect in Bottle Shock, good in Nobel Son, and pretty funny in GalaxyQuest (admittedly before HP movies but still an excuse to get in a plug for this under rated flick!)

I LOVE Galaxy Quest, which is one of the best films about fandom ever made, and better than many of ther ST films it spoofs.

Rickman can be quite funny - that droll delivery and straregically arched eyebrow can be profitably employed for amusement as well as melodrama. Then he can turn around on a dime and break your heart.

Rickman is always a hoot, weather it be drama or camp. A lot of his performances go un-noticed for some reason, 'Mesmer' for instance was not a bad film but went straight into the shitter.

I thought his turn as Col. Christopher Brandon in 'Sense and Sensibility' was great.
