This is a 2008 film starring Daniel Craig. A synopsis is easily found.
But the reason for this post is the sublime use of just one Roxy Music tune anchoring the soundtrack. The song, "If There Is Something", is used majestically in a scene in the (hero's) working class youth set in Britain in the early 70's. If he had not been seduced away from a budding friendship - his entire moral life could have changed for the better.
The track is utilized again at the very end - bringing me to tears as a lifelong Roxy fan. It's inserted as Craig redeems himself as best he can. Very, very apropos to the theme of the film.
" Shake your head girl / With your pony tail / Takes me right back / When you were young ".
Follow Ups:
I love Roxy - what a great band. Daniel Craig AND Roxy - alright! This movie was totally off my radar.
Somewhere I still have a UK Roxy Music Fan Clib button from '72. I drove my roommates crazy with that first album.
A buddy and I were friends with the band back in the day. He sent Bryan "Funny How Time Slips Away", which was subsequently on the first Ferry solo LP. We saw Roxy's first US tour with Brian Eno (in Chicago). Andy McKay helped me with my music theory homework while on a later tour. Andy's wife Jane was a hoot.
Judging from your moniker, we like the same music. :-)
Yeah, it seems we do.
I'd be interested to see your thoughts on this film posted.
