Any thoughts on William Hurt as Capt. Ahab?

Encore is showing another version of Moby Dick at 8 Eastern time,this time with Hurt at the helm.I thought Patrick Stewart did pretty well in the A&E remake but Gregory Peck's Ahab remains the standard portrayal.
On a silly note,scifi channel had a horrible modern update of Moby Dick,with Barry Bostick as Ahab.Ahab has a submarine in that version,ol' Moby was hundreds of feet long,had a pointed snout.....yeah,it sucked.

  It was Moby Dick Lite.Watched the 2nd part finale last night and oh,they cut the heart out of Melville's story.Even Ahab's archaic
  English was dropped from the dialog.Hurt came off as warm and fuzzy
  at times,even agreeable!
  Gregory Peck's Ahab remains the standard portrayal while Patrick Stewart's effort earned a respectable second place.
  Just another pointless remake.
