Great line by Jude Law who portrays barryb of AA.
If you've seen one disease epic you've pretty much seen them all. A few years go buy, a little more money is thrown at it, and the latest internet knowledge is sprayed onto the script.
This one had an allstar cast and focused on the outbreak and progression of a pulmonary and neurological virus that quickly dispatched its victims over a period of days. Gwyneth Paltrow was the first of Americans to arrive back from Hong Kong infected with the bug.
This film slyly "educates" the audience with every subtle way a bug can be passed in public to the unawares and 'exposes' a manipulative blogger churning out counter claims and a remedy that may actually be hype.
Some people will be drawn to this film like a moth to flame. No need to walk in when you can wait for Netflix.
* Apologies to barryb for the ribbing.
Follow Ups:
Tense and even somewhat educational- "r-nought" and facts about the 1918 flu epidemic, etc. And found its extrapolations about the societal effects of an epidemic to be plausible. By running through the whole course, it packs a great deal of stuff into a couple hours, and sometimes seems a bit schematic. Nonetheless, it is tense and never dull and it offers the opportunity to see Gwyneth Paltrow's scalp sawed off. The blogger is the villain and that rings true. Last of all, I liked the pulsating electronic music, which worked to maintain the mood. I thought it was a good way to spend a couple of hours.
Then Barryb rushes to the rescue?Thnk I'll pass on this one Gritsy.
No apologies to barryb for implicit or explicit ribbing......
