...is a modern telling and a feast for the study of the acting craft, film interpretation of literary giants, and plain good ol' "fun" - especially if the city of New York has any romantic associations for you.In a work such as Hamlet, there may be NO weak ingredients lest they stand so out of flavor as to spoil the broth. Bill Murray's Polonius shows his range and is gobsmackingly adroit. The casting is cool. Ophelia cooks once in the Guggenheim.
Though a touch uneven, this production gains momentum, surprises, and then somehow redeems itself as a work of masterpiece by its end.
I loved the treatment - for those ready for something familiar yet reworked sufficiently to completely find its own level.
Hamlet (2000), Recommended.
