Is it any good?
(I realize it is a comic book movie, so I am not looking for the next Casablanca; just a good fun summer movie, like the Avengers, or even like Prometheus, which was good, but a little dumb. But hopefully something that is better than say Avalon, which while fun, was completely stupid.)
And if you liked it, is it worth seeing in 3D?
FYI: I like well done 3D movies, such as Hugo and even the Avengers; so if you don't like 3D movies, (and I realize some people don't, which is fine), then please don't say to skip the 3D, especially if you didn't see it in 3D.
Thanks!

It was good, but not great. I'd give it a 7 out of 10.
(Probably about the same as the original one.)
First, the 3D effects were pretty good, with only a few items coming directly into your face, (i.e. the obvious 3D effects that tend to annoy me). I prefer that the background be shifted to appear in the background, and the focus of the camera (i.e. the subject), to be shifted towards my eyes, so that the 3D affect is a bit more subtle. The scenes where Spiderman is swinging on his webs through the buildings seems really well done. Kudos for that, (for the most part), so if you like 3D movies, this is one that is worth seeing in 3D.
As far as the movie and the acting, Andrew Garfield was okay as Spiderman, and Emma Stone was okay as the love interest. No better and no worse than the original actors, Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. (However, if Tobey Maguire's kind of dopey protrayal of Peter Parker put you off, (as it did my Brother-in-Law), I can see you liking Garfield's portrayal better.) However, Sally Field as Aunt May, was not so good, and Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben was completely pathetic. (When is Hollywood going to accept the fact that this guy just can not act his way out of a paper bag?) Cliff Robertson was infinitely better, IMHO.
My two cents worth anyway.
This has got to do with toys and video games.
Great acting from Andrew and Emma. I was pleasantly surprised how good this was.
Don't do 3d, sorry - migraines.

...so I took him to see it.
We both enjoyed it more than the first three.
We saw it in 2D ...nither of us like/enjoy 3D and find it more distracting than beneficial.

In 3D. I really don't care much for 3D in that it does nothing for me so I don't like to pay the extra, but due to the timing, I had to see that particular theater/show.
I did not enjoy it as much as the original SM. I thought they did as good as possible for a reboot of such a well known and done story. Whatever surprises there were, were revealed in the trailers. The web slinging was improved as were the computer graphics. The heroine, Emma Stone, wasn't quite up to my standards like good ole Kirsten Dunst.
SM1A Great popcorn movie, among the best
SM1B Good popcorn movie

Even Spiderman 3 was entertaining. There's no point in a reboot except for the fact that superhero movies make big bucks and Hollywood can't conjure an original idea, even with millions of entertainment professionals working in the film industry.

Other than that casting, pretty good series of flicks.

What is unique about the original series of Spiderman with Toby is that the first sequel was so good. In some ways, better than the first. An amazing accomplishment. Of course three started the inevitable circling around the drain, good thing they stopped there.

Actually, I scrolled down and found a couple of people have seen it, (I don't know how I missed that the first time I looked), but only a couple, so I will let this post continue rather than deleting it, in the hopes of getting more reviews, (especially about the 3D version).
..."best Spiderman film yet, etc" it's hard to get excitied about seeing another version of the same story.
And a lizard doesn't seem as compelling a villain as it could have been.
I liked the film better than the Toby McGuire version. Acting was good. The lizard was the weakest part of the film.

...on DVD in a couple of months.
Along with Woodie's latest Rome film.
Hard to justify the multiplex costs for these.
