Seriously, grits - what is the audience for this film? Very few people care about what is happening in THIS country, far less care what is happening elsewhere, of them maybe 1% of those actually has the feel for what is really happening. This is as earth shattering as the discovery of one more character in ancient Egypt script. Most philistines will latch on the least important element - "from the ultra-rich to a prison cell"... it will shock them, titillate them, while far more important things will go unnoticed.
People want LoTR and Avatar.
BTW - there are rumors of Putin about to die of sarcoma. Now, THAT will shock the philistines, I am sure! Until next sale.

What drew me in was how seemingly complete it was with its detail and artistic bent. They made it interesting and that's the kicker.

  Napolean had to be somewhat outgoing and bombast due to his size and Steiger's propensity for over-acting filled the bill just as Chris Plummer's Wellington did for the other side.

  I witnessed its shooting in Mukachevo area, apparently Bondarchuk did not have any problem getting thousands of extras - local military bases had all the soldiers he needed.
  
  Love that film, and love Steiger in that role, even though some Napoleonic "purists" turn their noses. To me he is one great Emperor.
