No new ground here but it is so intelligent and it follows thru with it's convictions, not so much intense as it is interesting and detail rich.
If you like Gillian Anderson a must see
but way too short and no new episodes til May
Follow Ups:
This and Top of the Lake were good watching on Netflix. Will pick this show up when it pops up again.
Other good Brit shows include Orphan Black (how the heck did Tatiana Maslany not win all the awards for her performance(s)?), Luther and Broadchurch.
Good show, even with some weak spots.
frankly I forget where I read it and cannot find it again
...are much more brutal in their way of portraying the horrors?
They are supposed to be a more polite society (yes, I know it is not like that, as their violent crime rate is actually VERY high), but the way they handle those subjects does not go hand in hand with the traditional images of Peter O'Toole and Richard Burton.
Maybe more violent crimes because fewer have guns?
That red hair and those pouty, purty lips really, ummmm, float my boat!!

She just came out. Calm down.
...
adopted land. Who'd have thunk the lead of a mindless American series would so elevate?
supposedly she has both accents that she can use when needed...
.

Anderson reminds me of my late mother.
so the answer is:
maybe
it did for me
Saw the first episode last night. Not bad.
Gillian's assessment of Belfast upon being pelted with bottles and rocks.
I was surprised to see Archie Panjabi, she is not as shiny here as on The Good Wife. They probably wanted to maintain Gillian as the star so no competition from Archie in the looks department.
Seeing her I can't get rid of that feeling that I am watching a silly American vaudeville. In The Good Wife her caricature was OK, as she was surrounded by other caricatures... here she is totally out of place.
I remarked earlier in the year that she played a "soulless bitch" and she seems to do it so handily. Hope that's not the real girl showing.
