This new series started on Sunday.
It is some real dark noir, starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, both top form. Lately MM really shined in Dallas Buyer's Club, here he is still very southern, but he is a very disturbed, very nihilistic, apparently brilliant police detective.
I last saw Harrelson in the somewhat silly role in Hunger Games, here he is the clean-cut, more conventional partner.
The location is somewhere deep in Louisiana. The dialogue crackles. The story is barely revealed in the first episode. There was a ritual murder in 1995, worked on by this pair of detectives, and for some reason, they are both being questioned about what happened on the case by 2 other cops in the present day.
Looks like it's going to be a good one.
Follow Ups:
overall I look forward to it
and my own self marveled at how freekin accurately the area was depicted. The dark underbelly of Louisiana, a state where even the "overbelly" is sketchy at best, is perfectly rendered, without the usual Louisiana clichés, i.e., mardi gras, terrible French accents, gators growling, rowdy nightlife, etc...

...about it.
A little too dark and mysterious for me with the flashbacks and flash forwards.
Not sure I want to know who did it...
I agree with the little too dark part, MK, and would like to add that the trend in movies it seems to me, and TV of late and not beginning with this show, is grim, grim, grim plots and characters. I'm ready some light at the end of the tunnel.
...watch Big Bang Theory.
I just end up reading and listening to music.
