talky or sensationalist. It is a profound study of corruption and how slowly it can worm its way into both an organization and individuals. Toni Servillo is amazing. NO other working actor is better, period. One or two may be his equal, though I can't think of any that have graced two films as good as this and "The Great Beauty."
The story: the CFO of a massive food conglomerate, who apparently lives to work, gradually realizes the web of deceit his lifework is representing. Forget "Wall Street" or "The Wolf of Wall Street," this is a far better film, though w/out the over-the-top performances Hollywood is so enamored with. Unlike those vehicles for stars, this film takes deliberate aim at the system itself. Servillo's quiet, powerful work is all the stronger for being so realistic. This isn't a one-dimensional cardboard cut-out figure of a greedy pig, but rather a long, carefully drawn analysis of a complicated man caught in a huge web.
You won't be manipulated by loud music, needless exaggerations of grand wealth, hookers and cocaine thrown about w/reckless abandon. In other words, the director doesn't sensationalize the sick underbelly of Italian culture. Who will do that for America?

...where he addresses the journalists. :) So cool and so mean! But you must see the Watchtower, it is every bit as slow and deliberate as the Distant or Once Upon a Time in Anatolia, with great acting and the camerawork is truly world class.
And people are complaining, and complaining... and complaining about nothing to see on Netflix...

Thanks for flattering me.
