a lot of input and killed all momentum this season had established. Over half of the episode was devoted to a heretofore unseen mom from whom Carrie was estranged and a half brother she never knew existed. These are the types of out of nowhere character introductions common in primetime soaps such as Melrose Place and Desperate Housewives. Totally out of place in a spy thriller.
It left one of the main plot points hanging, i.e., the list of operatives in Afghanistan and Pakistan, no mention, zilch, of the list Haqquani had. No retribution for the 40 embassy employees killed. We're supposed to believe Haqquani, a ruthless terrorists, will keep his word and not show the world his video of a helpless, degraded, quivering Saul? Lol, yea, Taliban leaders are such honorable men. I guess we're supposed to believe he, Saul, and Dar Adal are going to be bff's forever?
To reiterate, I thought this episode was way beyond horrendously horrible and I ain't trolling.

Follow Ups:
A terrorist Jew? Yummie!!!!! Made his day.
...after rejecting Quinn, the mother thing gave her a chance to hear she could have a relationship as he left to fight again.
After everything Saul did and went through in Pakistan, it is unbelievable he would be back at the head of the CIA.
Almost as crazy as Cary being head of Islamabad...
I guess by now everyone is used to the idea of a totally bipolar CIA operative.
It is just a show... OK? Entertaining, even if full of holes. Borderline comedy.
There're examples out there of TV shows hanging in there thoughout their run with excellent, well done, believable seasons. The Wire comes immediately to mind. I don't think there was a weak season from beginning to end. Rome was another as was Deadwood (inexcusably prematurely aborted by HBO). Add in the Breaking Bad to the mix and you've got 4 shows that were great from day 1 to day "n" and were more than "just a show", which apparently Homeland, with so much initial promise, is deigned to be :(
Anyway, the season wasn't a bust, it just could have been so much more...
IMHO and all that crapola :)

In reality I never take these shows seriously, just as a plug entertainment, while having nothing better to watch.

"Have you a water buffalo?"
Which is OK, it is just an entertainment, after all.
Watching the Season 1 right after the forth makes for an interesting comparison. There is definitely a maturity that the is missing at the start, it is more angular, the 4 is far more polished. It was funny to see the "weird brother Max" I forgot where it came from, he sure looks funny in the beginning. "And what does Max think?" "Max thinks Brody's wife is hot!"
trying to rouse tin out of his TV slumber! Despite her good work in Homeland, she will forever be known as Anna, the Lizard Queen or Inara, the Companion Girl

...season one the best.
IMO she's the hottest chick to get naked on cable this past few years.
Although this is the only show I watch, they're shared others with me.
Like the young Amish chick from Banshee.
It is interesting to see the difference between her and Danes - who absolutely refuses to show her breasts. I suspect once she saw what Morena had to offer, she realized she could not compete.
I should learn to read more than the first line at Wikipedia. Her being of Italian lineage explains her disturbingly hot look. I say "disturbingly" in a very good way!

If Danes could find them maybe she would show them! Her acting is exceptional but her body not so much.

This season was really going along great, but last night was a disaster. At one point I started to wonder if this was a two-hour episode. Nope,it just felt like it. The whole mother/brother thing seemed like they were out of ideas.
