for both your tubs of popcorn . . .
'Kingsman' has it all: Firth, Caine, Jackson, Strong, gorgeous sets, a host of young handsome actors, a nice easy-to-follow plot, action, more action, and even more action. Not a boring moment, not a believable moment, either.
In a nutshell, the Kingsman need candidates for a recently KIA agent. Firth happens to put up young "Eggsy" who happens to be the son of an agent that saved his life. Eggsy is a bit of an unruly maverick but does tackle training with a zest. Enter the evil plot: Sam Jackson (billionaire internet tycoon) has decided Earth's problem is overpopulation and has come up with a nifty way to solve it. He gives away V-Chips which, when triggered, will turn everyone into a raving murderous maniac. Now, Eggsy and the Kingsman must find a way to stop Jackson.
There is a cameo role by someone you will never recognize.
Only the Brits can pull off the grandiose spectacles of action and comedy with such panache. There's no real reason not to go unless you want to see some dreary Scando film about depression.
Follow Ups:
"Only the Brits can pull off the grandiose spectacles of action and comedy with such panache"...YEP...
I do like a movie that acknowledges EXACTLY what it is...does not drift or delve into anything it isn't...there is no wanna-be here...
Mark Strong, Colin Furth, and Michael Caine all in there wheel-house...served up nicely for them to shine...
I do not know of the actors name who played Eggsy...but really nice solid job...
I just thought the redneck church scene could have been much less violent...lots of gruesome killings throughout...the reason I noticed this more than usual, I was with my sister and one of nephews who are both hyper sensitive to violence...they both liked the movie but thought the same...good solid 3.5 out of 5 stars...
Thanks

the French and Americans....I believe that is probably why it was that way.
Yes that is a very true statement...
Being the gun culture that we have become...I am somewhat immune to it, but having my sister and my nephew there, it became much more obvious...
Being based on a comic book also makes it exaggerated to some extent...
It is a fun ride...it has a great shag-a-delect quality...with the tip of the hat to the swinging 60s...
Thanks
Mark
So, how was the popcorn?

unedited R rated preview I've ever seen. On Cartoon network last week they payed about a 2-3 minute preview with a warning before and the preview included the S and F word. The MANY previews I have now seen easily prove to me I would not like the movie at all regardless of who is in it. It's trying way to hard to look cool which means it is not cool as I see it.
