without grabbing an acting award: Best Picture, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Screenplay. Whiplash got three, yipeee!
I was disappointed in Redmayne getting Best Actor. Hell, Cumberbitch deserved it over that. Keaton seemed as happy as a puppy even not getting an Oskie--good for him. I would have taken Rosamund over Arquette any day.
Affleck was really miserable. I guess not getting a nom really had an effect on him. No Branjolie in attendance!
"Who gave this guy his Green Card?" Liberal comment of century by the liberal of the century, Mr Sean Penn.
Follow Ups:
Sean Penn continues to be an asswhole while thinking he's mister Kool
and the greatest addition to humanity since commercial deodorant.
What a putz!
The Oscars get more tedious, boring and scripted every year and they were
pretty damn boring and scripted to start with!
What a snorefest!
Birdman comes out on BR soon; we can't wait to see it!
"Once this was all Black Plasma and Imagination" -Michael McClure
I missed it because I don't have TV but apparently the only thing worth watching was Lady Gaga's tribute to Julie Andrews - while not Julie Andrews she did it pretty well.

Every year some more territory is gained, in a couple of years we will see the nipples...
What? This is not the point of the show???
When asked if he had a prepared speech during all that red carpet business he replied, no, not really, he was probably going to wing it. Get it? Wing it.
Every year it is getting worse and worse.
This time the moment with everyone getting up applauding with tears running down their cheeks, brought back the memories of a particular communist party gathering. As Stalin emerged, everyone got up and the ovation lasted for almost two hours - everyone was afraid to be the first one to stop.
...Grandaddy of the morons.
Ever see "Every Which Way but Loose"?
to be somewhat wooden, both as an actor and director. No one can deny his star quality though. The directing exception being "Pretty Baby". As an action director, he's passable, but emotional/intellectual complexity is not in his wheelhouse..
K.
such hideous misjudgement. I know I have (and do).
"Right turn Clyde!"
Eastwood is a long, long, way from being a moron.

I can't name any other actor/director of similar standing, he is like a pillar in that sea of sub-idiotic mediocrity.
With the sad departure of the true figures like Hackman, Nicholson, and others, we all should be glad he is still with us.
The Academy I haven't watched since they expanded from 5 movies up for best picture.Further since Leaving Las Vegas in 1995 I was rather confused by their weird decision making process. Whether one liked Leaving Las Vegas was beside the point.
It was nominated for Best Actor, Actress, Screenplay and Director and would have had to have been in the running for a nomination for screenplay since it won the award at other award shows. Arguably the Cinematography was the strongest aspect of the movie.
But hey Braveheart won screenplay and Batman Forever was nominated - jeez.
Those are considered the big 5 categories - so it never made any sense to say - well it was one of the 5 best in actor and actress, writing and directing but then NOT put it up for best picture. WTF?
I just hate the stupidity of some of these awards when they don't make sense. Leaving Las Vegas was pretty artsy for Hollywood and downbeat for their tastes but still - Braveheart? Talk about butchering history. Watching that movie makes me want to go to Vegas get drrunk and die in the arms of a hooker.

Gosh, I didn't realize Braveheart was so controversial. ;-)
