Overblown, no plot development. Just another video game for the kiddies. Had high hopes, considering all the great reviews. I walked after a half hour. Couldn't take two hours of being battered with uninspired material. That being said, Tech credits of the highest degree.
Pass on this one.
Yes it is strange but fascinating--who cares where its going there's action over the next Dune --or canyon--interesting article in the local rag today re cut scenes
The chasers having a Poop in the Desert
The killing of one of the girls and Armpit licking(?)
Yes they never ate/drank or peed--sheesh I've done Photoshoots in deserts with Models ( well the ones in Fury ARE supermodels or ilk) and they are peeing every 5 mins!
Good Film though--but I still give the Nod to Mad Max2

It's basically start to finish chasing. Doesn't sound like much. And yet, everything in it is first class and there is a ridiculous amount in it. All the crazy vehicles, there must be hundreds, all the crazy costumes, the weapons, the highly choreographed action scenes that go on and on, the whole conception of this post apocalyptic world with the warlords controlling water, gasoline and bullets- the big 3 necessities of life. The music, the sound. Two hours go by in a flash. And it deserves to be seen on a big screen, because there are loads of visual details in every frame. And the 3D is well done as well.

...for what it is. Charlize Theron is the hero of this movie; Thomas Hardy is more than along for the ride but it's Charlize's show.
We found it very entertaining, altho for me it'll be a 'oncer'.
Saw it at Harkins' Cine Capri in Scottsdale (Phoenix), AZ on a very large Panavision-ratio screen and with rather loud Dolby Atmos. The latter is very effective and not painful.
Recommended.

I enjoyed it more than the Avengers Ultron movie that's for sure.
I was kind of dreading Mad Max but I got dragged out on cheap Tuesday with very low expectations. I give them credit for making a near two hour car chase sequence compelling with 2 minute stops here and there for dialog. Did Max have more than 10 sentences in the whole movie? Someone should count - you won't need to count too high.
Still, I think it's a better movie than people will expect. Rottentomatoes the last I looked had something 231 fresh and 4 rotten which is pretty surprising given that I thought the previews look utterly terrible.
I doubt it holds up well on the small screen but for a big screen thrill ride - and for people who like this kind of non stop action - it's a good film.
But none of that should remotely imply that the action here is lost in the message. The pacing, the sound design, the editing, the music (courtesy of Junkie XL and some of Joe's freaks who play drums and electric guitars during the action), and even the emotional stakes are all so far above average that they make just about any other car-chase movie look like a quaint Sunday drive by comparison. The first chase in "Fury Road," as Joe's men catch up to Furiosa and her precious cargo, is one of the most remarkable action sequences in film history. And that's really just a warm-up. It's no exaggeration to say that, if you think something in "Fury Road" is the most breathtaking action stunt you've seen in years, you really need only wait a few minutes to see something better. This is a movie where you keep thinking that its reached its apex and then, inexplicably, that moment is left behind in the dust.
From the very beginning, Miller and his team do something that so many other filmmakers fail to do—they define the geography of their action. Rather than merely tossing the camera around in the vain hopes of creating tension, they constantly give the viewer overhead shots and clear physical dimensions of what's happening and where we're going. And then they blow it all up. There are dozens of crashes, explosions, and flying bodies in "Fury Road," and yet the piece never gets repetitive, especially as the emotional stakes increase with each sequence. Miller knows when to let the pace coast when it needs to, which is rarely, and then he pushes the pedal down and plasters you to your seat.
"Mad Max: Fury Road" is an action film about redemption and revolution. Never content to merely repeat what he's done before (even the first three "Mad Max" have very distinct personalities), Miller has redefined his vision of the future yet again, vibrantly imagining a world in which men have become the pawns of insane leaders and women hold fiercely onto the last vestiges of hope. "Fury Road" would be remarkable enough as a pure technical accomplishment—a film that laughs in the face of blockbuster CGI orgies with some of the best editing and sound design the genre has ever seen—and yet Miller reaches for something greater than technical prowess. He holds aloft the action template that he created with "The Road Warrior" and argues that Hollywood shouldn't have been copying it for the past three decades, they should have been building on it. "Fury Road" is a challenge to a whole generation of action filmmakers, urging them to follow its audacious path into the genre's future and, like Miller, try their hardest to create something new.
...in this week's "A Critical Consensus" it was rated the top film in the theaters by American film critics with a score of 8.8/10.
As already noted this film is more about the action than its story. Yet, it does have a story. A simple one. But what drew me in was a review that nearly waxed poetical about the almost martial dance-like quality to this piece.I must say that it is worth a little extra coin to see the 3D version of this. Some excellent effects. There were a couple of crash sequences where flying parts appeared to fly into my face. Pretty good stuff that way.
I could also comment that this film did manage to get us to care about our protagonists and their friends.
Excellent action choreography. That is the best I can say about it.

At some point it has occurred to me that inspiration for some of the grotesque vehicular creations may have come from Ed (big daddy) Roth.
chief bad guy. Does he look like a pervert to you? Does me.
Above: 2 '59 Cadillacs are cannibalized to produce this. The Chief bad guy's ride. All I could think of is that there are now two less 59 Caddies in the world. It was this big...
Furiosa's Rig:
alternate movie title: Furiosa's Run for Freedom. But then I thought; Fury Road kinda says that.
Furiosa.
The actress as cheese cake.
The two most interesting rigs. Both constructed as "monster trucks". The rig on the right gets my vote for "coolest rig". The double Cadillac rig on the left is a real eye catcher, and seems to fit with the ego of the villain who drives it.
This actor has been getting work in Hollywood for the last 10 years or so. IIRC he played an Orc Army commander in the last Hobbit movie. I seem to recall him in that movie "Troy" with Brad Pitt. He was in the beginnings of the movie where a challenge is made to decide the battle with one single combat. Achiles versus this guy. Achiles dispatched him with one well executed stroke of his sword.
Other movies I'm sure. Muscles everywhere. One might imagine he's even got muscles in his brains. But I suspect he's been getting some pretty good paydays lately. Good for him. Movie bad guys deserve to make money too.By now I should have maxed out the site bandwidth limit..

Pretty much agree. I will refrain from calling it a crashing bore.
...most fun I've had at the movies in a while - it's like a roller coaster ride.Tharlize Theron makes it much better - should have been called Mad Maxine.
Tom Hardy is kind of wooden.
Great vehicles, creepy villains and terrific action/chase scenes.
And not much plot to get in the way.
That will be California in 10 years if we don't get any more rain.

If Jade Helm 15 is more than a 'training' exercise.

You really must stop listening to Alex Jones so much ...

I had no intention of making light of the drought situation in Cali. Although we've had some recent relief, living in Texas, we too have suffered considerably from drought and I do know how serious it can be. I am sorry if you took my comment about conspiracy theories and tunnels linking WalMarts as somehow making fun of the drought situation the good people of California are enduring.
...no offense. We're in the same boat.
Except for Jade Helm 15.
Best of luck.

I thought, from the promo/trailers, that it looked like crap, so I was going to skip it... I guess you guys have convinced me otherwise.

I cannot watch 3D. Will be down with Migraine for couple of days. Maybe worth it.

Female AP reviewer gave it four stars with lots of praises. I figured it would be a summer popcorn type movie. I eagerly await Willy Bonka's comments.
There is a controversy surrounding this film that it's basically feminist propaganda. The screenplay was written with help from the author of 'The Vagina Monologues'.
Basically all the men are evil, incompetent, weak pieces of sh*t and the women are all strong, noble, morale, etc, etc, etc.
Haven't seen it myself so I don't have an opinion.
Don't plan on seeing it - there is only so much sadism and violence you can see in one lifetime and I'm pretty close to my limit.
