and story but not enough to send regular folk to see it. I mean there were real actors, character development, and plot. Very real in some ways, not so in others.
Olivia Taylor Dudley looked smashing as the nice, innocent daughter of Doug Ray Scott (an Army Colonel). The camera loved her face in this one and she did a right credible job of being a B-Horror Queen.
Michael Pena and Djimon Hounsou played priests assigned to watch her case. Dudley slipped into possession slowly and it was done in a less messy fashion than "The Exorcist" or a million other possession movies. Restraint and real actors--it was unusual.
The main Exorcist (Peter Andersson) was grim and up to the task while Pena was reluctant and Doug Ray overly protective.
The special effects were good because they were so limited. No fire-hosing the attending folks with split pea soup. Just a spurt here or there.
Everything in the film was right out of the End Times Formula Book for Film. The ending a tad grandiose but a cautionary tale.
Nah, don't go see it and don't watch it on cable. These are the kind of movies I love to bottom feed on.
Follow Ups:
I have a love for thriller/horror films, no doubt, do we really need another
'Priest to the rescue' themed film?
In the same vein (no pun) -check out Deliver Us From Evil.
It is another possession type of movie that I thought was fairly well done, (given what it is). I thought the acting was pretty good, and the plot made at least some sense.
