Egad, the trailers were on it. This is one cold flick. Creepy cold. Took me all night to warm up.
The title is apt. That guy (DiCaprio) was walking dead, but walking. Enough giveaway. See this one.The filming alone is worth the cash. Most beautiful shooting I've seen. Couldn't quite place where it was, but felt several times that it looked like familiar territory -- and then it didn't. Credits showed that it was shot everywhere from Patagonia to Montana to Canada to California. No matter, its great footage.
Hardy and Leo do their usual Academy-worthy acting, and I hope they got BIG paydays for this one. This was blue-collar work, and I mean cold blue.
Now I've gotta go find some hot coffee.

Here we have a film about some bunches of men who are, mostly, just trying to make a living. But what remains when we feel that we must substitute "making a living" for "having a life"? What remains is a remnant of human potential, and the root of all evil. This film has a type of "realism" (and occasionally, a type of "magic realism") that effectively translates to an impoverished look befitting this harsh, reductionist ethic. The "actors" often seem like more "props" than personalities, subservient as they are to the torrents of imagery and action.Which is probably as it should be for a film of this type...
Thumbs Up.

...agree.
was foreplay to the best sex he's ever had. The love bites were out of this world. She's supposed to come over and bring a friend, he says.
Mr. Grizzly Man and his girlfriend were mauled, killed and eaten alive by a brown bear, with the video cam running, while doing bear documentaries in Alaska.
A film was made about the guy in 2005 by Werner Herzog, who listened to the horrifying tape and advised that it should be destroyed. It was not included in the movie. My guess is that it didn't much resemble sex. The investigative cops who had to listen got sick.
...
I took a warm shower after I saw it (as hinted at elsewhere)...two birds with one stone.
It's plausible it wins for best cinematography, actor, supporting actor and director and etc. but I doubt best picture. Too dark and downer with unsatisfying final scene (IMO).
