I'm just bewildered. I think we need not polish this turd further. It ain't gonna shine.
Follow Ups:
the final show was way too big for just one episode
...hope not - she was annoying.
And can't they find someone who doesn't have warts?
...Chris Carter says the X-Files will continue next year.
The final episode tied The Bachelor as the most watched show Monday night.
Now they just have to come to contract terms with Duchovny and Anderson.
So it's all our fault for watching.
...if it was ever any better than ep. 6. It must have been, but that was, what, 15 years back.
I'd think the next season will need to have some better writing to get me back on board. I was ready to abandon ship. Compost pile of old ideas and all.

I swear, it was like a moth to as flame. I couldn't help myself.
So the the 'cabal' has finally succeeded in implementing their plot to evolve the human race to the next level by cross breeding humans with alien dna. Then the 'cabal' works to kill off the unimproved humans by introducing elements within common vaccines designed to weaken the human immune system. This will leave them (us) weakened and vulnerable to the next step; an 'end of days' scenario where soldiers having been given anthrax vaccines suddenly become vulnerable to the poison and begin dying off in large numbers. But wait, its not just the soldiers and the anthrax vaccine, the entire human race is threatened. Everybody starts dying.
But wait, can Dana Scully and her new sidekicks Einstein and Miller save the day. Can Agent Mulder be saved? He doesn't look so good. Is there time to break out the new vaccine that will save the human race?
I gotta say this one leaves me flat and not really caring. I do think I was right in predicting that the 6 episode event was an attempt to gather interest in a series reboot. But what we have seen in that last six episodes does not provide much motivation for me in that direction.
Mulder and Scully look tired and done in. And the plastic surgery on Gillian Anderson (Scully) turned out kinda' wierd. I liked her better before she went under the knife. Anyway, Mulder and Scully have had it. They're done. They really need to move on with their careers in television. Miller and Einstein lack charisma. The X-Files should be allowed to rot in the compost pile of old ideas.

All the footage with "Mulder" under the influence of "shrooms" was pretty classic & think David Duchovny did one HELL of a job. I'd edit or clarify/quantify some of the above, but don't want it to be a spoiler for anyone who hasn't seen that, or the following episode.
...as a big fan I'm supremely disappointed.
No doubt a cliff hanger to get fans to root for another season.
Sorry, let them go over the cliff.
Just turn it over and re-shovel the dirt so it won't get in their faces. I think the whole project was so bad that Fox should have just taken a loss instead of preying on loyal fans.
Well, I'm not Rupert so they ran it anyway.
