...the latest Star Trek is one of the best of the new series.
Nearly non-stop action, thorny dilemmas for our heroes, funny banter and mean-ass bad aliens.
What more could you want?
See it in 3-D.

"He says the villian is 'very much like Trump or the Brexitors'. "
Just returned from an afternoon matinee. Imax/3d.
No spoilers. Saw no comparison between the villain and anyone in today's politics.
What it was:
One massive adventure and thrill ride. After this movie, I'll be happy to see another Justin Lin directed action movie.

...of about 4 yrs ago. One of the nasty evil-doers was a character known as "Bane". Some really perceptive political punsters saw Bane as a euphemism for Mitt Romney because they thought it was a reference to Bain Capital, the leveraged buyout company Romney had formerly run. It didn't matter that spelling was different.

...LOL.Every villain can be compared to Trump - Hitler, Mussolini, Krall...
He's authoritarian and knows better than anyone else how to fix the problems of the world.

Just because you live on the left coast and have been indoctrinated into that mantra of thinking, you have already seen in the last two days what a dictatorship is all about with Hildabeast I mean Hillary and the DNC.There was no legitimacy to her candidacy as she was anointed by the establishment.
At this point even if she were to win,I don't see her being very effective because she will always be under protest by the opposition. We like you anyway tho.

What Trump says is puffery. He's not serious. Hillary really believes she is entitled to rule the world. For God knows what reason.
let's hope everyone realizes that at the polls - we wouldn't want him elected due to misrepresentation of his agenda (whatever it may be).

...LOL.Guess you missed his speech where he's going to declare martial law, curfews and end the violence across the country.
Deport the Mexicans and put the Muslims in camps. Leave our allies behind and join with Putin.
End sexual harassment and rape laws and remove all other political correctness that does not aggrandize him.
Sound familiar?

I missed that speech as well.Maybe it's in those emails that were put in Wikileaks eh?

...you've been conned.
Maybe there is an opening for you as a teacher at Trump U?
What planet did you just arrive from?
After I saw the first trailer I said the end is near. What with Justin Lin directing and motorcycles leaping threw the air I thought we were getting 'Star Trek, Fast and Furious'. But I'm hear to say hold onto your phasers. If you are a fan of all that is Star Trek then by all means go see this film. The good ship Enterprise appears to be in good hands. After seeing 'Beyond' I can see why Paramount Pictures has ordered up a fourth of the rebooted (movie) series.
...it had just about everything you expect in this type of movie. We've all seen it before in some form or another but it was well done with an easy to follow plot and high production values.
As already suggested, the whole thing is made for large format 3D (I saw it in IMAX 3D). The background scenery for the first part of the closing credits was esp spectacular. So much so that I missed most of the credits.
Speaking of credits, I noticed two Chinese organizations listed as somehow having major involvement with the OA production. That combined with the fact that the movie house i visited has majority Chinese ownership has my head spinning. My how times change!
...I thought they did a great job of capturing the tone and rhythm of the original TV show in places where the characters interacted.
In one scene toward the end I swear Chris Pine looked just like a young Shatner.
In the TV Series, he was alive, but confined ( or built into ) to that Chair for survival, and taken to the Planet of Illusions to live out his life with the Woman who was also disfigured.
I didn't like it that they changed that, if it's supposed to be a Pre-quel to the TV series.
I'll see this as a matinee early next week.
At least we have one summer block-buster to look at so far.
