Yesterday Samsung did update to their smart TV's, that made it impossible to access Netflix.
We spent three hours on the phone with Netflix, Comcast and then trying to get through to Samsung, but the solution was readily available on Internet - a quick search lead me there.
Anyway, if you are experiencing that issue, you need to change the Network setting parameter DNS to 8.8.8.8. It worked like a charm.
Unfortunately no representative of those companies was able to tell us about that simple fix.
Shame on Samsung for releasing defective software!
Follow Ups:
The Netflix UI is terrific and it includes a mini-USB port that you can use with an adapter for wired ethernet. Wireless connections suck unless you're within shouting distance to a decent AC type router.

Most inexpensive ones can barely support one HD channel, and only when there are no other consumers - like iPads, for instance. But if you get the true Media grade router that problem goes away.
I am very old-fashioned, so I pulled several LAN wires through the house. Both of my Netflix-ready TV's are on wires.

When we bought this house, I ran CAT-5 cables to all the bedrooms everywhere else that I thought we might use a connection along with a detached office and installed a central phone/internet/cable box in the basement with a 16 port gigabit switch and router. I added a Wifi router for phones and iPads, but our plaster walls and distance made it a little limiting. Eventually, I added a couple more AC1900 routers as access points one on the opposite end of the house and another on the back veranda to provide full coverage for incidental use.

Victor, are you really that surprised? The same company has given us phones that burst into flame, washing machines that endanger lives, and refrigerators capable of launching denial of service internet attacks. Seems par for the course for them.
Please, no jokes here!
But to the point - I am surprised the upgrade was silent, with no notification, and yes, that such an important feature was not tested.
I am a cool client now, all relaxed, since I got the fix. But you should have seen me during those three hours! :)
Anyway... the point of the post was not to dwell on my anger and not to commiserate, but help those in similar situation. It was quite upsetting.

I just got a new samsung, but I'm afraid to connect netflix and amazon thru it. Still using an old blueray. But the tv recognizes 5g networks and the blueray doesnt, so I guess the tv will be better streaming and capable of the 4k stuff.
The setup is simple, you just connect it to your wireless as you would any other device, and enter the password.
From there it is an easy sailing - I truly LOVE the one-button access to Netflix.
People should not over-react to this latest issue - it is the first issue in many years, and so easy to fix when you know how.
Did you also get the keyboard for your TV? I strongly recommend it. Helps tremendously when watching movies from those obscure sites.

Well, no, but maybe. But how do you set the dns parameter. Where is it in the settings menu?
First, I would try your TV straight on, who knows, maybe your model is not affected. You would need to connect it to your home network - I presume you know how to do this... no? You go to Network Settings, there you select the network and enter the password.
After you connect to the network, press the Netflix button on your remote, and see if it connects there.
If not, here's what you do:
I don't know if your menu is identical to mine (our sets are a few years apart), but you go to Menu, then to Networks, then to Network Settings.
There you will see several parameters, including the DNS. Usually it is set to be Automatic, and it will show some value. You click on it, and then select: Manual. It will give you the line, where you enter the four digits, in this case 8.8.8.8.
All this might sound scary the first time around, but it is done pretty well in Samsung menu.
It does make sense to connect your smart TV to your network, as there are things you can do with it conveniently, without using a computer.
For that - definitely buy their keyboard.

The tv came with a small thin users manual that listed the steps to set the dns manually to 8.8.8.8. So I guess this is an old problem. But I will try it out on auto first. I did connect to a 5g network and watched an old youtube video with no problem. I know how to do basic stuff and have done the picture settings.
So now you can really enjoy your new set!
It is interesting, that people reported similar problems in 2014 and 2015, but we didn't have it. Perhaps different models were affected differently, at different times.

...setting the DNS to 8.8.8.8. :)
I actually got the Chromcast there, but there's too much range to the wireless router. I have the TV on a LAN cable, I get 50Mbps to it. When it was on wireless, there were constant interruptions.
I just love them wires. :)

Next person will take two minutes. :)

Looks great, I don't really watch DVDs or BDs much anymore.
I know you are not alone. But there are probably millions of us poor schmucks still using Samsung TV's. :(BTW, that 64" plasma is still very special!

Hi, I have a Panasonic 50" Plasma, 5 years now.
I don't really look forward to replacing it...
It also has Netflix, but the Marantz must have more sophisticated Video processing, or something.
I've heard of Universal Players getting mucked-up after firmware update.
Glad you found a fix, you have to be smarter than the Smart-Electronics to get along these days!
We even elevated it to the supervisor level, and still got only standard form email from them.
At least the Comcast guy in the end remembered to ask about out device, and as we mentioned the brand, told us they were swamped with such calls today.
Unfortunately, he had no idea about the fix.
But to your point - I truly have no idea how an average person handles all those boxes, their installation and configurations today.
