Agreed, Victor. He was very, very good in Paths. Some of the supporting actors let the film down a little, but all in all one of my most favorite films of his and Kubrick's. Kirk was/is a stud.
I was sitting on the lawn with a girlfriend at the University of Oregon the summer of 1966. Someone approached us from my backside. I noticed the GF was starring at the person who asked the location of the theatre building. I pointed at it and he passed. It was Kirk there to see Michael. A small man compared to my mental imagine from the the big screen. Lust for life was a good performance IMO.

Loved that movie in its time.

I love that scene with the drunken party in the great hall where the son of Ragnar (Douglas's character) throws knives at a large wooden block, with the woman with whom he's just had an affair strapped to it. And his knives miss the girl. After that her husband complains no further.
There's a novel of the same name (The Vikings) that the movie was based upon. I'm not certain if I like the novel or the movie best. A good read and a good watch.
